Homemade Orange Cranberry Sauce with Amaretto

There could be nothing easier.  Why not make your own to serve along side your bird this weekend, or as a hostess gift, or stocking stuffer.  Cranberry Sauce doesn't just have to be with turkey, you can serve it with a nice piece of brie, roasted garlic and crusty bread.

Ingredients:

2 Packages of fresh or frozen cranberries
2 Oranges, zest and juice
2 Cups of sugar
1 Cinnamon stick
1/4 Cup of Amaretto (Brandy, Cointreau or Grand Marnier also works)
1 Sprig of rosemary

Put all the ingredients into a saucepan over medium heat and simmer until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens, about 15 to 20 minutes. Serve at room temperature or cool and refrigerate. Remove the cinnamon stick and rosemary before serving.  I also like to add a little more orange zest at the end because I like seeing it and enjoy the texture.
